iPhone app ideas made with the app developer's sketchbook
I created the app developer's sketchbook, but I also use the sketchbook to lay out my iphone app concepts. Over the next few weeks I hope to share several of my app ideas with the world, and hopefully receive some level of feedback as to the app concept quality. I would not be surprised if these applications exist for the iPhone with the explosion of apps available. So, let me know if my iPhone concepts hold weight, or if I'm completely full of shit.
Pricing of an iPhone app developer's sketchbook
More needed feedback:
I created an iPhone app developer's sketchbook which I'm currently selling at Lulu.com. I have a couple of serious questions concerning the value of such a product. First, you should look at the way the iPhone sketchbook is currently set up. I have images here. Now that you've seen the product, and you've bought into the idea of sketching up an iPhone app concept in this manner, how much would you pay for a one hundred page iPhone sketchbook?
Nothing? Fair answer. But if you used it for work, then you might be willing to pay how much? I ask this question because if you think the price point of $9.98 is too expensive for the 48 page iPhone app sketchbook then I would be very tempted to lower the price and raise the page count.

Contribute to the iPhone Sketchbook Quality
I've recently created the iPhone app developer's sketchbook . I love using it, but my background is in architecture (actual buildings) and not user interface development. This weekend, I discussed with one of my friends who is a software developer how useful the sketchbook would be to people developing and designing iPhone applications, and he said it would not be terribly useful. I tend to disagree.
This leads me to a crucial question in the development of this sketchbook: What would be valuable to include in a printed book that could be a useful tool to iPhone developers? Would people want cut and paste templates, would developer's want online resource lists? Would people even use a sketchbook, or is this too old-school? Comments desparately needed. In the meantime, buy a sketchbook and try it out. It's only $9.98!

Why would an iphone sketchbook be useful?

I recently created an iPhone sketchbook for a project I was working on. I needed a quick way to draw up an interface to explain my concept to the software engineers I was using to build my iphone app. I'm a designer at an architecture firm, and not a trained UI guy, so hand sketching iphone ideas comes more natural to me. I quickly discovered that this iPhone sketchbook was extremely useful, but why would an iphone sketchbook be so useful? Enter the bullet points:
- You never have to remeber the iphone size and proportions again. I've drawn it out for you in the sketchbook. I spoke to several iphone app designers about this problem, and I've found that their current soltion to hand sketching accurate iPhone sketches involves a cardboard template. I'm telling you, the sketchbook is easier to se and more accrate than the template.
- Your thoughts are more organized and easier to find. Let's face it, flipping through a sketchbook is still quicker than trudging through a folder structure. Recall ideas quickly. In fact, I'd suggest getting a few sketchbooks; one for each application concept. In terms of organization, the sketchbook offers areas for notes and doodles in the margins that is free and yet controlled in the opposite page. In other words, relevant data is nearby the adjacent iphone screenshot.
- Relevant hash marks provide quick page layouts. I've included a number of the most relevant hash marks at the margins of the iphone screen to help you to remember where the status and navigation bars will be going on your ui.
- The most rapid of rapid prototyping available. The pencil and paper still beats the speed that illustrator, photoshop, or the SDK have in their ability to get the idea rapidly understood.
- The sketchbook offers a great alternative communication tool to developers. A clear workflow diagram and slick ui screen shots are always handy in conveying your idea to the software engineer, but sometimes a series of simple hand sketches can convey the nuances of your iphone app.

Introducing the iPhone Sketchbook
The iPhone App Developer's Sketchbook is a simple tool to help you hand-sketch your very own iPhone application. The sketchbook is a great way to quickly develop storyboard concepts for how your application is to work. The sketchbook is designed by a fellow iphone app developer, and I find it constantly useful to sketch quick ideas.
